Wishing You a Happy New Year

Often with the turn of the calendar, we want a fresh start and self-improvement becomes the topic of the day. A large part of that is often a goal to improve one’s health. We likely don’t have to tell you about the nutritional benefits of fresh turkey meat, but we will anyway!

An excellent source of protein, ground turkey is always extra lean meaning it has less than 10% fat. It’s a fantastic choice for giving your favourite comfort foods a healthy twist. Try ground turkey in chili, tacos and lasagna this winter.

Fresh Canadian skinless turkey breast is extra lean, and an excellent source of several nutrients such as niacin, vitamin B12 and protein. The whole family will love breast meat in soups and pizzas or oven-roasted.

If you’re avoiding dark meat because you think it’s laden with fat, you may be surprised to know that skinless turkey thighs are lean! As a bonus, thigh meat is an excellent source of niacin, vitamin B12, selenium, zinc and protein. So don’t pass it up, try it in soups, curried and slow-cooked.

Regardless of your goals this January, you can easily include turkey meat in any of your family’s favourite meals. For great texture and a taste that blends well with any spice profile, include turkey cuts on your weekly shopping list.
