Season your turkey breast with the onion flakes, cumin, paprika, salt and pepper on both sides.
Add your chopped onions to the bottom of your slow cooker. Add the seasoned turkey breast on top of the onions and pour the can of beer on top of your turkey.
Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 5 hours.
Once done, use two forks to shred the cooked turkey. Transfer to a large bowl.
In a medium saucepan, mix the tomatoes, brown sugar, applesauce, mustard powder, smoked paprika, Worcestershire sauce, cumin, garlic powder, chili pepper flakes and salt. Stir until all ingredients until well combined.
Heat on medium until sauce starts to bubble and reduce to low heat and let simmer for at least 30 minutes. Stir regularly.
Once done, add as much BBQ sauce to your bowl of shredded turkey as you like. I usually go with 1 1/2 cups. Mix so that all of the turkey is covered in sauce.
To serve, pull apart the butter lettuce so that each leaf is like a little cup. Layer on your slaw and top with your BBQ shredded turkey. Sliders or small burger buns are also a great idea to have on hand. From there you can add whatever other toppings you would like.
