Share the Love with Shareable Turkey Dishes

As a dietitian and foodie, food is naturally my language of love. Creating a nourishing meal and sharing it with family and friends is how I show that I care. And February brings with it a few big days to do just that.

Here are three fun events to share the love of turkey and show your love for family and friends in February.

Super Bowl

Sure, there’s the big game, but for me, it’s all about the commercials and the food. This game day, I plan on taking this Turkey and Black Bean Tacos I created for Canadian Turkey and turning them into nachos – it is a party after all! Lean ground turkey seasoned with a DIY taco spice blend, topped with shredded cheese and your favourite nacho toppings is the perfect shareable combo.

Ground turkey also goes great in another Super Bowl classic: chili! This flavourful Healthy Turkey Chili can be made ahead, so you have more time to enjoy the game with your pals.

Got a group that loves a little spice? Jalapeno Popper Stuffed Meatballs are a shareable crowd pleaser with a kick.

Family Day

Cooking together can be a fun way to spend part of your Family Day. Bonus? You get a delicious meal. Let’s be honest, cooking with kids can get a little messy, but if you can embrace the mess, it can be lots of fun!

“Build your own” meals are fantastic for cooking with kids and can be customizable for all ages. Try these Thai Turkey Lettuce Wraps that are a terrific family-friendly option; kids who can safely use a knife can help with chopping veggies, younger kids can help mix the sauce and an adult can cook the ground turkey. Add optional toppings and everyone can build their lettuce wraps how they like.

If you’re spending your family day with friends, try something a bit more complex and learn to make dumplings together with these Vegetable and Turkey Dumplings with Black Vinegar Dipping Sauce.

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is the ultimate day to share food with someone you love. It doesn’t have to be fancy; I opt to skip the restaurant dinner and have a date night in.

Turkey meatballs are the perfect bite-size addition to an appetizer-style meal that allows you to linger over your meal. Canadian Turkey has a bunch of recipes you’ll love, like Mini Moroccan Spiced Meatballs or French Onion Stuffed Turkey Meatballs. Both will have your mouth watering and stomach satisfied from protein-packed lean ground turkey.

Charcuterie boards are the ultimate shareable meal. I love the idea of a customizable Turkey Grazing Board that you can fill with your favourite dried fruit, seedy crackers, fine cheese, and roasted turkey breast.

Want to cook something special to impress your loved one this Valentines? This Grilled Turkey Cutlets with Lemon, Capers, and White Wine Sauce is full-on fancy but easy to make. The lemony sauce adds a nice little zing to the turkey. I’d serve this with a leafy green salad with a simple vinaigrette and roasted fingerling potatoes.

Whether or not you will be joining in all these fun February events, there’s always a good reason to try out a new shareable turkey recipe and share the love!

Wishing you a fun and tasty February,

Shannon
